Jew Wishes On: Sunday Scenes

Today is a travel day for me. I will be returning home after visiting with my daughter and her family in California. It is a bittersweet day for me. I am so happy to have had the time to spend with them, yet parting is always difficult for me.

I have almost finished reading a novel which I will discuss this week. I should be able to finish it on the plane trip home.

I will be uploading some photos on Tuesday that I took specifically for Ruby Tuesday.

In other news…the Bevis Marks Restaurant in London is a wonderful place to eat if you are ever there. If you time your visit right, you can also tour the Bevis Marks Synagogue, next door. It’s history is fascinating.

The Jewish East End of London is an excellent website and resource. Why not give it a visit, and learn about its history.

I will be back in full force tomorrow, hopefully.

  1. I don’t look forward to the days when I will have to travel to visit my children.

Thanks for the tidbits about London. I have never fully explored London; I was at a friends once for Yom Kippur (no traveling inside Britain, we were on our way to France then Israel) and once I saw the changing of the guards on my way to Israel.

  2. Does your daughter live in London?
Looking forward to reading your book review.

  3. Leora: It is very difficult to have family all over the world, literally, in my case. One of my sons lives in Japan.

I visited with my daughter and her family in California, but added the London tidbits. I saw the changing of the guard there, also, the first time I was in London.

  4. Ilana: No, Sarah and her family live in California…about a three hour flight from where I currently reside.

    Thank you.

  5. Safe travels, Lorri!

I work in the City of London, not far from the Jewish East End – I sometimes end up wandering around there at lunch time, and let my imagination run riot…..

  6. I’ve just revisted the Jewish East End of London website thanks to your reminder. What a wonderful resource for so many things on my (office) doorstep!

  7. Rachel: I love the Jewish East End of London. The next time I travel there, we will have to get together and visit it together, including Bevis Marks’ restaurant, and the Shul, of course.

    • Oh yes, that would be wonderful!
