Once again it’s Watery Wednesday time. To see more photos with water in them, visit here.
The old water wheel above is located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
The trestle bridge above is one of my favorites that I have seen while traveling through Tennessee. I took this from the shoulder of the interstate/freeway, on a misty morning.

I came across some interesting sounding books, while browsing the internet. This one in particular sounds fascinating: The Rescuer…The Amazing Story of How One Woman Helped Save the Jews of Syria, by Harold Troper.
Scribblers on the Roof, by Melvin Jules Bukiet also sounds promising.
I’m not sure how I managed to miss hearing about Kaaterskill Falls, by Allegra Goodman, through the past ten years, but I somehow have. I will definitely check to see if one of the local book stores has it.

BTW, did you know that Phillipines officials also saved WWII-era Jewish refugees?
Fascinating chapter!

Cloudia: I don’t know too much about that chapter of WWII.

Your photos are so evocative. They remind me of a wonderful film/book – Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café, even though that was set in Alabama, not Tennessee. Still, they are adjacent to each other!
We must visit America again and go to places other than the East/West Coast…

Rachel: Thank you! Now that you mention it…they do remind me of the the film/book…favorites of mine.
Yes, there is more to the U.S. than the east/west coast.

Love the photos! So calming.
I knew Allegra years ago. Yes, read her books! I especially liked Kaaterskill Falls.
A book about saving Syrian Jews sounds interesting, too.

Leora: Thank you! I will definitely have to read the book.

You can read a review of Kaaterskill Falls by Allegra Goodman on my blog. It won’t be as good as your reviews though.
I love the first photo.

Beautiful old mill indeed… Mabry Mill in Virginia is also very picturesque and I believe it still is an active mill.. grinding meal. This reminds me of the visits we took there when I was a child.
Mr. Linky is broken.. again… so my Watery Wednesday is HERE.

Lovely images!
I love Pigeon Forge. Been there many times.
I thought I recognized that mill.
Haven’t heard of Kaaterskill Falls in years. I’ve seen the movie and my family and I actually hiked to the falls on a vacation a few years ago. Long hike but worth every step getting there.

Carletta: I love Pigeon Forge, too, and eating at The Old Mill. Thanks!
Yes, the hike is definitely worth every step!
