Jew Wishes On: WWII Nazi Guard Charged

According to this news release, 89-year old John Demjanjuk, an alleged Nazi guard, has been charged in Munich “with 27,900 counts of being an accessory to murder at a Nazi death camp during World War II“. You can read the full story here, on MSNBC.

  2. Hello JewWishes, your blog is hugely interesting. I drop in from time to time – your photos are beautiful.

    I was very upset when I read this – not because Demjanjuk’s (now been) formally charged of course, but because my closest friend, who I’ve known for 30 years, lost more than 50 relatives to the camps, mainly at Sobibor, where it is alleged he was a guard. She comes from a large East-Amsterdam Jewish family. As you can imagine, we’re watching the proceedings closely.

    We looked her lost family up once, in the Yad Vashem records – it was heartbreaking.

  3. Andrea: I’ve been following his case for over 20 years, now. It’s been quite the back and forth journey. Maybe there will be a conclusion after all of these years.

    I have family members who were lost, too…
