Jew Wishes On: Sunday Scenes – May 31, 2009

I hope that you had a meaningful and illuminating Shavuot. Mine was most definitely a wonderful and gratifying experience. Nature’s beauty helped me focus on prayer, as it enveloped me within its surroundings. My days were filled with prayer, reflection, spiritual reading and delicious food. Cheese blintzes, egg salad, yogurt with fruit, and baked ziti with cheese were a delight to have.

I have purchased some new books, some online, and some in the book store, for immediate gratification. These are the books I bought:

The Murmuring Deep: Reflections on the Biblical Unconscious, by Avivah Gottlieb Zornberg…it looks fascinating to me.
The Seamstress: A Memoir of Survival, by Sara Tovel Bernstein
For the Relief of Unbearable Urges, by Nathan Englander
City of Thieves, by David Benioff
~~~~~~
I received three Advanced Review Copies from Biblioasis:
Kahn & Engelmann, by Hans Eichner
Once, by Rebecca Rosenblum
Three Balconies, by Bruce Jay Friedman
I can’t wait to get started on these three. Thank you, Biblioasis!
I hope you have a lovely day.
  1. Glad you had a good chag.
    I love Zornberg and heard her lecture in Israel and even Australia. Aviva will have a launch of the book you mention here in Israel in a few days: http://www.janglo.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=130414&Itemid=157
