Where is the sunshine? Oh, we had two full days of sunshine the past 4-5 weeks, other than that, the sun has peeped out from behind the clouds on rare occasions, and for an hour or so. Basically it has rained, and rained hard, every day for the past 4-5 weeks. Oh well, so it goes.
Yesterday the weather was dreadful. There were tornadoes approaching, closer and closer, from every angle. Fortunately, they did not touch down in the city where I live, but they did touch down and do extensive damage, elsewhere. There was hail and there were strong winds, which in and of themselves, can look and sound frightening.
While watching the news in order to keep updated on the proximity of the tornadoes, rain and hail, and strong winds, I saw the photograph above that a viewer had sent in to the NBC news station. The viewer had just photographed a tornado approaching their vicinity, and you can clearly see the funnel at the bottom of the enormous cloud. I photographed the photograph that was on the TV screen. You are seeing it with all of the lines and graininess in the transition from TV screen to my camera. But, you can get the idea…and definitely see the funnel twister between the trees. This is serious weather.
The following two photographs were taken from the deck in my backyard.
I am grateful that the tornadoes didn’t touch down where I live. Watching the news updates, and seeing them move closer east towards where I live, was anxiety-producing, to say the least. I did pray, and have thanked G-d that all is well with me, my family and friends, and my house. I pray for those who suffered damage, injuries, and/or loss of life. Tornadoes are nothing to take lightly.

Through it all, there were some lovely scenes during the day, including this photo of a robin redbreast which I took through the window of my den. He was just sitting in the birdbath, lazy and daydreaming. It isn’t a great capture, but the scene brought a smile to my face.

Beautiful picture of the robin redbreast (I never even knew there was such a bird)! As for tornadoes I have never seen or been anywhere near one in my life, it is very difficult for me to even comprehend the brute force of theirs…

CG, thank you. Tornadoes are vicious elements of nature.
