Jew Wishes On: Last of the Potato Latkes

3latkes

I had left over potato latkes with my breakfast this morning, and just finished the last bite. I had made them last night to have on the last night of Hanukkah. I had them with sour cream and applesauce, and they were a good addition with my chicken last night, and with my eggs this morning. Yummy.

I loved lighting my Menorahs last night, and looking at the candles as they flickered, and watching all eight candles, plus the shamash, on each Menorah light up the room. I liked the way their shadows danced on the walls, creating beautiful patterns.

I hope you all had a lovely and meaningful Hanukkah, and that it was a joyous season for you.

Update: I saw a wonderful sparkle of illumination last Thursday, while driving with relatives. We were on the freeway. There was a Menorah on top of a car! It was a beautiful sight, as it illuminated between the cars, trucks, etc., spreading light throughout the darkness, for all to see.

Jew Wishes…Peace to you all.

  1. All I can say is that I am jealous. :-) I experienced my first potato latkes at the Hanukkah dinner put on by my Temple. Even though it was not homemade like yours (I bet yours are excellent), I found them to be very tasty, none the less.

    • Yes, if I do say so myself, mine are delicious! :)

I’m glad you got to taste the ones at the dinner.

  2. I love it- a menorah on a car.
Around here there was a giant electric hanukiah at one of the nearby public parks. so pretty!

    • Oh how great that must have been to see!

  3. I was very happy to see you were nominated for Best Religious Blog… I’d vote for you any day! Mazel tov.

I have to say I am a little tired of potato latkes… I served the last two to my daughter this morning.

    • Thank you so much, Leora! :) It was a pleasant surprise, to see JewWishes on the nomination list!

I’m finished with latkes, whew, and am glad to be.
