Today is the day before Thanksgiving. For those of you who might not know, Thanksgiving is a holiday that is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. It is a time when many families gather together. It can also be a time when there are many people who are alone, without a loved one, and/or there are senior citizens who can’t travel to be with family due to distance or due to health reasons.
On Thanksgiving, give thanks for family and friends, and remember those who came before you, and remember those in your life who can not be with you. Setting a place at your table for them is a good way to honor them. Also, if you have a platter, a special set of candle sticks, or another treasured item, that was given to you by your loved one, use it at your Thanksgiving table. How about cooking a dish from a favorite family recipe. Not only will the family member be honored, but good food from their recipe will also be a delight for everyone there to enjoy. Another good way to remember them is to play some of their favorite music while eating Thanksgiving dinner. Family stories are a fun way to remember someone…we all have a treasured and meaningful moment to share about a loved one. There are many creative ways one can incorporate absent family members into the feast. Let’s not forget to light a Yahrzeit candle for a loved one who is no longer with us. This is one Jewish custom that I perform, faithfully on Thanksgiving.

One thing I like to do Thanksgiving morning is to walk throughout my subdivision. I like to inhale the fragrances of autumn, and look at the sweet farm animals along the way. I will walk for two-three miles, paying homage to nature’s beauty.
I carry my camera with me, because you never know when there will be a photo opportunity. My camera is like one of my limbs, and goes wherever I travel, whether by foot, car or airplane.

On a different note…Leora of Here in HP awarded me with this lovely Superior Scribbler award. Look at his cute expression! I can envision his tongue sticking out of his mouth as he writes!
I’m going to pass it forward to my sweet friend Carra, who writes (because it is her passion, because she must) about so many different issues, from her life to current happenings. I’m also passing it forward to Nita, who writes from her beautiful and pure soul.
Why not visit their websites and browse their posts.
I’m sorry for the update…I noticed an error and had to correct it.

Jew Wishes…Peace to you all.
