Jew Wishes On: Jerry Springer – “Who Do You Think You Are?”

Jerry Springer, TV host, is of English descent, having been born in London in 1944. His parents were of German Jewish descent, leaving Germany before World War II. They moved to America in 1949.

The BBC TV program “Who Do You Think You Are? helped Jerry Springer find out more about his Jewish ancestors on a recent episode, and you can read about it here.

Who Do You Think You Are? was able to trace the fates of Jerry Springer’s maternal and paternal grandmothers. Unfortunately his maternal grandmother died in Chelmo concentration camp. His paternal grandmother died in a hospital at Theresienstadt.

It was an extremely sad and devastating ending to Jerry Springer’s quest for ancestral information on his grandparents, but he did come out of the experience finding a second cousin, who lives in Israel with his large family. He has met his second cousin.
