Partisans of Vilna is more than a story of WWII, the Holocaust and Jewish resistance fighters. Partisans of Vilna is an intense and overwhelming film documentary that chronicles the amazing endeavors of the Jewish resistance fighters, who courageously planned a course of action, and carried out a sabotage offensive against the Nazi army in the city of Vilna. Today Vilna is known as Vilnius, and is the capital of Lithuania.
Partisans of Vilna was Co-written by director Joshua Waletzky and producer Abba Kovnerr. It is a frightening film, a deeply intense and poignant film, and an inspirational film. The strength of the Jewish partisans is displayed without sugar-coating the events, and is a graphic film, depicting the horrors of war, and the events that led to the formation of the Partisans of Vilna. Archival footage and over 40 survivor eye-witness accounts add to the drama in the telling of the story.
Partisans of Vilna is a film with strong educational historical content, and is an excellent resource in understanding the Jewish resistance fighters and their stalwart endeavors. I personally own, and have watched, the DVD of this amazingly compelling, historical and dramatic documentary. I also own the soundtrack, which I listen to all the time.
I highly recommend Partisans of Vilna to everyone. I watched it for a second time, and have updated my thoughts, without revealing too much, as I feel you should watch it yourself, and decide how you like it.
Jew Wishes…Peace to you all.
