Jew Wishes On: Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen and Women

I constantly research my English heritage, and my online research takes me to websites that surprise me, and ones I never knew existed. I came across the Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen and Women (AJEX) website, recently. The website spans the years from 1939 World War II through service up through 1960. If you are researching your Jewish English Ancestry, and know of relatives that have been in the English military during those years, you might want to visit AJEX, as there is an AJEX Record of Honour database on the website. You can search the AJEX Record of Honour database by surname, only, or by putting in a given and middle name, also. The database results will include the name of the serviceman or servicewoman. The AJEX database will sometimes give a date of birth, the person’s service number, branch of service, and service home address. But, most importantly, if the name shows up, you will at least know that your Jewish ancestor served in the military during the years 1939-1960. It is one more link in the time continuum of ancestral heritage. You might be surprised by the results, and also find other ancestors you didn’t know existed, or ancestors who you didn’t know served in the military.

I found my grandfather, great-grandfather, and several uncles, great-uncles and cousins listed in the AJEX database. I was quite pleased to see their names listed, especially the names of some uncles, as I didn’t realize they were connected to me, but have found out, since (through other research), that they are.

The AJEX website also gives directions to the Jewish Military Museum in London England.

Why not visit the AJEX website for more information. There is much data to be seen on the AJEX website. Aside from the Record of Honour, there are many other useful links to other websites, and also links to upcoming AJEX events.

Jew Wishes…Peace to you all.
