Seyder Tkhines: The Forgotten Book of Common Prayer for Jewish Women, by Devra Kay, is an exceptional book of prayers, researched and condensed into one beautiful volume by Devra Kay.
Seyder Tkhines are Yiddish Prayer Books, written by women for women, and were extremely popular in the 17th century. That Kay has brought them to the forefront again, through translations from the Yiddish, and through her determination and diligence, is a testament to the women who authored the original Seyder Tkhines.
This book is remarkable on so many levels, from the writings to the varied prayers in the prayer books, for almost any occasion or situation, occasions and situations that still arise today. The works transcend the centuries.
I own this book, have read it, and it has an important place in my life and library.
